Tufty gets a make-over!

A sneaky peek preview of what Volunteer Artist Amanda Bataller has been working on this year as part of the Year of Natural Scotland.

‘Tufty and Friends’ is the story of a Tufted Duck’s life at Loch Leven, aimed at engaging Primary school children.  It is provided to primary schools locally as part of a resource box called Tufty the Tufted Duck as part of the ‘Growing up with Loch Leven’ initiative, which includes activities, the life cycle story, and various field guides that can be used as educational materials in schools.

When Amanda showed us her previous work, it seemed to lend itself well to a children’s story, and when I suggested that she may like to illustrate the Tufty story for us, she agreed to give it a go.

I think you’ll agree that her attention to detail is such that each species can accurately be identified, even the Red-crested Pochard!

The latest developments are very exciting.  Eventually we would be keen to see the story published as a book that can then be included in the Tufty resource box provided to schools.  I very much look forward to seeing Tufty and his pals in-situ!
