Art on the Pier in August

A sunny day for some Art on the Pier!

A sunny day for some Art on the Pier!

It was a busy run of Sundays in August for Loch Leven NNR Artist in Residence Alison Buckle, as she was running three 6 hour drop-in printing workshops by the Pier in Kinross.

A less sunny day…

The events ran between 10am and 4pm over the first three Sundays of the month, and were excellently run by Alison, with assistance from friends and family over the course of the workshops.

Each day was themed differently, with a focus on different printing techniques, as outlined on the events page of her blog.  With the marquee set up in clear view of the Boathouse Bistro and the Pier from which Historic Scotland customers would depart for the island, a lot of interest was raised, and people were soon dropping in to see what was going on.  Many families took part and had a great time creating their own hand-printed cards, and some families returned the following week to try out other printing techniques.

Alison was particularly encouraged that teachers and people involved in working with other groups took a specific interest in the simple techniques being demonstrated.  She felt that by inspiring people to use these techniques in an educational group environment the days had been a real success.

There’s more to come from Alison in the coming months, so look out for both blogs for news of this shortly.
